Welcome to all the new subscribers here courtesy of "Round and About" magazine, and thank you for joining me on an endevour to bring local wild venison* to more tables, more often, all year round.

As some of you discovered in the magazine feature, venison isn’t just for special occasions – it’s a versatile, healthy, and ethical meat that deserves a place in everyday cooking. While I'm not a regular blog writer, I wanted to share a series of everyday recipes with venison replacing farmed meats.

There will also be more recipes featured in "Round and About" magazine next month, courtesy of my friend, the very talented chef Robin Popham (he has a great monthly foodie newsletter). https://www.createterroir.com/me

Before that though...

How can I order from you?

A common question this week. I realise that the website shows a shopping basket, so you might reasonably conclude that you could buy online- well I did toy with that feature, but the nature of the beast (!) didn't lend itself and keeping the stock list current was hugely inefficient. AND... I haven't worked out how to remove the basket icon. Best instead to either text or call me on 07813818072 and I can tell you what I've got.

Or please try in store at Peterley Manor Farm.

The recipe

It’s quick, simple, and perfect for a midweek dinner when you’re short on time but want something wholesome and delicious...

For anyone wanting to try it, I will ensure I've got mince in store at Peterley next week following a lovely big order that's cleared the larder this week.

It's after midnight and I was out at 0530 this morning, so I'll wrap up there for now. Being new to this, I'd welcome feedback on anything I might cover in future blogs please.

Best wishes,

Geoff

*My pet peeve: farmed New Zealand deer sold as British having been transported frozen and butchered in the UK. We have too many wild deer. NZ have too many wild deer. We both have farmed deer. Why are we importing farmed venison 14k miles?
